Trevaunance Cove, St Agnes, Cornwall
Trevaunance Cove is effectively the beach for St Agnes, in the north of Cornwall. I only came here for the first time two or three years ago, when I discovered the delightful cafe overlooking the beach as well as the stunningly pretty walks along the coast, especially in the direction of Chapel Porth. This was once part of the tin-mining area of Cornwall which stretched as far as St Just on the Penwith peninsula in the far south-west. There are still substantial remains of the industry, though much of it closed for good in the first few decades of the 20th century. See www.cornwallinfocus.co.uk/mining/, which provides a brief but fascinating history of tin-mining in Cornwall.
