West Looe and the Looe River, Cornwall
West Looe and East Looe in south-east Cornwall were once separate towns sitting on steep hillsides and divided by the Looe River, but now they are just the one town. The river is extremely shallow and the large fish market on the east bank (out of shot on the right) can only be accessed by the boats when the tide is fairly full, as it is here. But this was taken on a Sunday when all the boats were tied up alongside the quays on both sides of the river. While the fishermen have got the day off the family seen in the bottom right of the picture are fishing for crabs - a popular pastime for visitors.
