High tide at St Ives, Cornwall

With its three bays, golden sandy beaches, artists' colony, art galleries and quaint narrow streets, St Ives in the far west of Cornwall is one of the prettiest places imaginable. The harbour is still home to a number of small inshore fishing boats as well as numerous small pleasure boats, but Cornwall's fishing industry is nowhere near as important as it once was. Tourism is now by far the most important contributor to the local economy.
