Glass-bottomed boats go out to sea at Looe
At Looe in south-east Cornwall, glass-bottomed boats have become very popular with holidaymakers. The boats travel out to St George's Island (a.k.a. Looe Island) just a few hundred yards offshore where the passengers can observe the varied sea-life under water without getting their feet wet.
Despite the fact that Looe is an important fishing port as well as a tourist destination, the Looe River is extremely shallow and boats can only get in and out when the tide is fairly high.
