The beach at Kingsand, Cornwall

Kingsand is a small former fishing village overlooking Plymouth Sound in the far south-east of Cornwall. It is adjacent to Cawsand, and until the mid-nineteenth century the border between Devon and Cornwall lay between the twin villages, with Cawsand in Cornwall and Kingsand in Devon. Now, of course, the boundary is the River Tamar. The two villages, which are on the Rame Peninsula, now have a number of holiday lets, and are also popular with those who commute to work in Plymouth. This part of Cornwall is fairly secluded and does not tend to attract the same number of holidaymakers as places like Newquay and St Ives. I like it!
