Advert outside London Bridge station for the carbon trust - a Government back scheme to reduce energy use/carbon emissions.

Are they taking the piss?!

This billboard was up-lit (i.e. inefficiently lit) by 16 floodlights. Assuming the floodlights are 500W each, they are using 35 MWh of electricity per year, at a cost of £4000 per annum, while producing 15 tonnes of CO2 a year!

As you can see, the billboard is astonishingly bright compared to the foreground, proving that the advert is massively over-lit. The lights could all be dimmed by 90% and you'd still be easily able to see the advert.

It beggars belief!

The Carbon Trust obviously doesn't care about wasting energy and money - so why should you?
