Dutch polder -

Swallows have made their own terraced houses in the facade of the building in the polder. Research shows that the birds have built around one hundred nests in it. These nests are not protected all year round, but the birds do breed in the same place every year. "A large number of breeding pairs are now using this property, making it essential for the population of house martins in the area," says the municipality of Cromstrijen.

But it is not only house swallows who benefit from the so-called "nature house", but also for the many dwarf bats. "The value for nature is preserved by transforming the home."

All the more so because facilities are provided for several animal species in the building. For example, built-in cupboards for the house sparrow, a barn owl cupboard, fly-in openings for dwarf bats and bats and an insect hotel are placed in the house.
