Class 10 D4067

Loughborough is the home of class 10 D4067 12/09/10. D4067 was built at Darlington in 1961 and like the rest of the class 10s, it spent its life with British Railways in South Yorkshire. Being non-standard, it was withdrawn as surplus after less than ten years service, and sold to the National Coal Board, who sent it to Betteshanger Colliery, Kent in March 1971. The NCB transferred it via Doncaster Works to Nailstone Colliery, near Coalville in early 1976 and it was withdrawn from there in March 1979. It was transferred to Loughborough on the 5th February 1980.

My own working life included Betteshanger Colliery in 1975 and also Bagworth Colliery near Coalville l feel a personal link to this particular locomotive.
