Slagthuset, Malmö

Architect: Salomon Sörensen / Ahlsén & Lindström arkitekter – (B Ahlsén, M Eriksson, L Landin)

Built in: 1904 / 1988-93

Client: Malmö stad, Pronator Fastigheter

Malmö's old slaughterhouse was designed by Malmö's former city architect Salomon Sörensen and was built in 1904.

Between 1988 and 1993 extensive renovations and additions were carried out. The old slaughter halls were converted into a large entertainment complex with both restaurant and theater. Ahlsén & Lindström arkitekter was responsible for both the rebuild of the old buildings and for the new ones that were built at the same time. In exchange for the preservation of the older buildings, the developer, the property company Pronator, received permission to expand the property with a large 13-floor building.
