Marx and Engels Ignore the Cathedral
Behind the statue of the patriarchs of communism, out of view, the former center of East German government is boarded up due to asbestos and other problems. In the distance at right stands the Berliner Dom, the cathedral above the crypt of the Hohenzollerns, Germany's former royalty. The East German regime nearly decided to tear down the cathedral, which was badly damaged in World War II, but in the end did a fine job restoring it. Marx and Engels must be rolling in their graves.
