Common Indian Nightjar

I always thought the this half closed eyes imply, sleeping in day time. But this individual would fly and land and immediately assume this pose. So I guess the eyelid is possibly acting a light shade for a very sensitive eye. In these shots by Das www.flickr.com/photos/the_mask/3584336545/ , www.flickr.com/photos/the_mask/2569688311/ taken (after dark I presume) the eyelids are well open. (The pupil are also wide open)
