NB: David Hale, after a grueling duel with McLaren all game, had to then play again that night in the AFL for the North Melbourne Kangaroos. As he had been named for the Roos as an emergency, he was required when David Wells injured himself in the warm-up and became the third late withdrawal. The club was unable to use anyone but a named emergency if they wanted to avoid the possible $20,000 fine.
