Pauraque in plain sight

A helpful Estero Llano Grande State Park Ranger told us of two possible locations for a Common pauraque. On his advice we set out to find it. I'm not sure this could be considered 'in plain sight' but it was there. Luckily I ran into him again at the location and he pointed it out. Yikes, you can see it but this stretches the definition of 'plain.' I confess, I returned the following day with a tripod and the 1.4 extender for a bit closer of a view. When this bird finds a good nest site, it keeps it.

This round of cool temperatures is over for now but you can see plants which didn't appreciate it at all.
