The next Pollinator week entry is this Lemon beebalm (Monarda citriodora), or sometimes Lemon mint or Horsemint flower that has attracted a Bumble bee. There are several "Bumble" bee varieties and I can't identify this one. The crushed leaves smell of lemon.
Each year we add more plants to the garden from a native only nursery, "Ozark Soul." The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower plant database lists the Lemon beebalm as native to MO, but to the prairie but not the Ozark Plateau. There are three Monarda species native to MO.
