re: Mata...just processed this one from the summer
One of the things that was so wonderful when working with the Maasai, was how incredibly warm and receptive they were to us. As a photographer though, I was fascinated by the distrust in the children's eyes of the white man with the camera. This was one of the reasons it was so important to put the cameras in their hands...stares like I got come from somewhere, and so while being honoured as a guest, I was constantly aware of just how fragile this relationship really was. The children are actually playing a schoolyard game, that despite seeing it in many villages I never could grasp the concept.
