Dyrhólaey

Dyrhólaey is a small peninsula not far from the town of Vik. The peninsula is named for the enormous black lava arch you see in this image. Translating to mean something like 'door hole', it is a popular location for photography and for viewing puffins.

The first time I visited this location the winds were so powerful that photography was virtually impossible. I came back later in the trip to relatively calm conditions and snapped this shot.
