Under the title Mediocre – Berlin the work of the Spanish-American painter Axel Void is shown for the first time in a solo-exhibition in Berlin. This show frames the 4th version of Mediocre as an exhibition and sets a focus on the average life in Berlin. A mix of canvases and mural painting will be shown in the old boathouse on the River Spree. This space will be used for a short time, from the 22nd till 24th of June as an exhibition space. The very different motives show the subjective view of Axel Void, who chooses the exact images and themes at random. The works are shown together in a way that they create a sense of relationship and contrast at the same time. Basis of the paintings are photographies that blend with the observations of the artist - facts and fiction melt into each other. The result is a complex and ambiguous view of a city in its state of being extraordinarily mediocre.
Axel Void: Mediocre - Berlin, curated by George Zolchow (Calvo de Mora Contemporary)
Boathouse, Köpenicker Strasse 50 (right on the water)
Opening: 22.06.2012, 17:30 - 22 o'clock, 23.6. & 24.6. 12-20pm
