Poached Whitebait with Sesame Oil and Vinegar Dressing

Poached Whitebait with Sesame Oil and Vinegar Dressing

Needed more flavourings, but at least it was quite tasty. I should have used mirin / rice wine, or a bit of lime juice. The rice vinegar didn't seem go well with the whitebait.

Looked quite scary before I marinated/poached/cooked them! At least the results weren't bad. Not very tasty, but not totally tasteless either.

The Wikipedia describes whitebait as slimy, translucent worms, which I won't disagree :)

Inspired by the Whitebait with Tobiko and Shiso that I had in Kamakura, Japan!
