鸡杂血旺冒菜 Chicken Giblet Combination - close-up - Hot Space AUD8.80

I was tempted by the 水煮鱼 Spicy Fish Stew (or literally "water-boiled fish") but I had to give into my weakness for offal.

 

The Chicken Giblet Combination was filled with sliced giblets, hearts and cubes of blood jelly, all in a numbing, spicy soup with loads of Sichuan Pepper. Quite a good soup it was too!

 

The giblets and hearts were just cooked with a bit of bite, but the blood was probably a bit too well done and became dry and spongey, rather than being like a silky, yet metallic, tofu.

 

I had to look up what 冒菜 was. Apparently is a 成都 Chengdu specialty, basically a spicy hotpot.
