Second Rhododendron bud of two
We first bought this rhododendron from a flower show nearly 4 years ago now. We were told to keep it in a pot.
This year, finally we see 2 buds! I hope the hot days we've just had didn't burn the buds, as it did the leaves.
Updated 2007.11.29: I suppose we could try a little Sulphate of Potash. Thanks Donna!

We got a pot of rhododendrons nearly 4 years ago from a flower show, where the lady promised that they would produce the biggest, most fragrant blooms you'd ever seen in a rhododendron.
In November, we started to see a bud. Over the next few months, it grew into a fist-sized bud. Finally, we get to see the blooms!
Rather than let it wilt outdoors, I decided to cut it and bring it indoors, and the fragrance filled the dining area ... for 1 day. The next day, they wilted. Somehow, the stems don't seem to absorb water very well.
