Angels and Demons @ Vestahorn, Iceland
Yes that is what came to my mind when I saw the sky. Looks like the sky had got some wings.
Initially I was very angry that they kept that light on whole night in the Viking village. Why on earth would you do that? Yes I know in Iceland electricity is almost free from all those geothermal plants. But please keep the sky dark.
However, when I saw the output, it was actually not bad. That light kind of attracts the eye and the mysterious scene gets even more mysterious.
The portal opens and the UFOs came down exactly there. Now the earth is in danger. So we need to call the heroes from Hollywood movies to save. For the first time, the end of the world is not starting in US! 😄
Anyway; my 10MM lens did the job it was purchased for. Yes it was not as fast as my other ones. Yes the images was a bit noisy for being ISO 6400. Yes DXO did a great job in cleaning it up. But the output is quite a satisfying one.
But such image could have never made with any other lens. With a 130.4° field of view, this is the widest you can go in a full frame without fisheye. I am so happy that I got this lens before my visit to Iceland. This was really an asset.
A fruitful result from 8 years of patience. Yes in winter 2008 I did a sudden plan to visit Iceland as I have got some spare holiday last moment in office for extensive additional work in the year. All the tickets at that time were too expensive. Christmas problem you know. Only a cheep flight from Paris to Reykjavik. So, let's go and see some northern light. Wrong! After trying for the entire time we saw the light only one day out of 2 weeks we were there. Spectacular. I wanted more. But ran out of time. I immediately promised that I will be back at the peak of the solar cycle. So September 2024 during Equinox, I am in Iceland and what a show we have witnessed. Spectacular is an understatement.
I will release a series of stunning images that I managed to capture during our time in Iceland. Starting with this "Angels and Demons".
I have made a short film to record my journey to this incredible place; you may be interested in watching. Click here to get amazed with the beauty of this special place.
Please have a look at my website www.avisekhphotography.com for all my recent works.
Have a nice weekend.
Hope you will enjoy the picture.
Any suggestions or criticisms are always welcome.
