Before lots of people asked me where is this amazing water villas where the sun and the Milky Way kind of aligns perfectly. Sure it is not the best resort of Maldives, but this is definitely one of the most photogenic one. This is the Sun Siyam Olhuveli at the Guraidhoo atoll of Maldives. The home reef of the resort is not that dramatic even though you can see some good amount of colorful fishes. But there is no corals there. But if you talk about photographing the water villas, it is definitely up there at the top.

Even though we think that tropics are all about magical sunset and sunrise and bright and sunny days, it is actually not always like that. It does rain a lot at tropics and the sky stays grey often due to massive amount of humidity. So as many other places, here also you need to wait for the right light.

Sure, probably the number of good sunset and sunrise over a certain amount of time is higher than other places. But still it is not like every day you put your camera towards the sky and get the best light.

This being one of the most beautiful place of the Island, this was a bit busy during the day with too many mobile photographers taking their pictures there. This is something astonished me a lot. People put their big face in the frame where the frame is like 95% covered with their face. That looks very odd as the shape of the face changes with those wide lenses of the mobile and then they put caption. Maldives. I am sorry, but where is Maldives? It is only your large distorted face! But that is the fashion now a days it seems. Guys like me, who find Maldives in a picture of Maldives, seems to be old fashioned. But I still like that! :)

Anyway, after all those alcohol at night; most people only wake up late for the breakfast; which is normal for most in a luxurious holiday and that is the time for some like us to take the opportunity to capture some early morning drama of nature.

This was also a great first test of the dynamic range of the R5. Overall pretty impressed. Sure it is definitely not as good as that Nikon D850 that I have left home. But this is way better than my older 5DSR and very close to the D850.

If you are interested on a practical comparison of D850 and R5, you can watch my comparison video here.

I have also captured a pretty detailed video of our trip to Maldives. You can find that here.

Please have a look at my website www.avisekhphotography.com for all my recent works.

Have a nice weekend.

Hope you will enjoy the picture.

Any suggestions or criticisms are always welcome.
