Gomti River - Lucknow

Lucknow - The City of Nawabs and the capital of Uttar Pradesh State-is situated on the banks of River Gomti - The river that begins its journey from Fulhar Jheel in Madhotanda (near Mainkot (around 3 kilometers east of Pilibhit district in Uttar Pradesh, India) and after flowing through the districts of Shahjahanpur, Kheri, Lucknow, Barabanki,, Sultanpur, Faizabad and Jaunpur, it ultimately confluences with River Ganga near Varanasi. The cities, Lucknow, Sultanpur and Jaunpur are three major cities situated on its banks. Total length of the river is about 940 Km. and it flows in Uttar Pradesh state. River Gomti has 22 tributaries and Sai river is its major tributary.
