The Photographer
Amidst a riot of tourists that visit the tomb of Salim Chishti, was a photographer with his bright red Nikon D3200 (oh they do come in colors). An old figure with wrinkles on the face overpowering the smile he was wearing, dressed in chicken kurta pajama and a taj mahal hat. I couldn't help but walk upto him and the first thing I uttered was, Bhaiya kya aapki photo le sakte hain (Can I please take your picture), contrary to my apprehension of a rejection, he in his excitement came forward, "Haan haan babu" (Yes yes sure..), politely posed for my camera with the most charming smile. He told me he used to have a film camera which was apparent from the tattered Nikon F series strap he had, "Sahab, roti ka sawaal hai" (Sir, it's a matter of earning a meal). In this crazy dog race where everyone is going digital, it is hard to keep up with a film camera. "Sab ko 10 minute me photu chahiye, kya karen" (Everyone wants their picture within 10 minutes, what can I do). With his enigmatic smile he won me over.. The Photographer..
