F-14 Tomcat Panorama from the Port Side
Enjoy!
The Tomcat was the last fighter of the last true fighter squadrons of the US Navy - nowadays the USN uses Fighter-Attack Squadrons since most air combat missions have an air-to-ground component. The Tomcat never lost an air-to-air engagement for the USN, unlike sadly the F/A-18C once.
Nonetheless, the Tomcat was also quite the air-to-ground platform over Iraq in various 1990s air policing operations leading up to the 2003-2006 sunset of its service liberating Iraq. Now many of its innovations such as the big screen to work the IR pod plus the Vulcan cannon plus an innovative power have been renewed in the E & F Super Hornets.
I hope every fan of naval aviation gets to see a Tomcat up close & personal. Not just on Flickr w/ my Tomcat photos but for real! However if you must make do w/ Flickr for now - here you go.
P.S. My friend David Brice is CEO of IRIS Simulations which makes a payware version for Flight Simulator X/FSX. Currently as of 3 November on sale at link.
