A DUSK TOUCH & GO AT OLF COUPEVILLE

The raison d'etre/reason for existing for OLF Coupeville is this:

“In order to properly prepare crews for the dynamic nature of shipboard flying, it is imperative to replicate carrier landing experience as much as possible. … OLF Coupeville is ideal for this training practice due to its remote location and low ambient lighting. It more closely replicates true landings aboard an aircraft carrier.” (SOURCE)

So come nighttime, low light pollution on the OLF training area is vital to increasing safety on aircraft carriers. Very relieved at least one dusk picture came out.

Just wanted to post on 6 February to celebrate the 1 month anniversary of the return flight ops to OLF Coupeville for 2014 after a moratorium imposed by the US Navy Admiralty in the wake of controversy generated by a citizens' group and subsequent litigation to get an US Navy Environmental Impact Study underway. Due to the controversy, OLF use will be capped to only before heading out to the aircraft carrier for 2014 & 2015 & possibly all of 2016. OLF schedules will be released the Thursday before.
