Song Illustration--"No Gain"

"No Gain" protests the lies and corruption of the Bush administration. This is my most sincere, most heartfelt song (and I must say that I finally have some satisfaction now that the Bush regime is out of action.) It's a tribute to Neil Young and Crazy Horse, and features me cutting loose with a rare guitar break on my Strat. It can also be found on the “Living With War Today” website. I'm grateful to Neil for setting up this site of protest songs and I'm honoured to be included on it with so many other artists. I want to thank everyone for their generous support.

Here are the lyrics:

There’s a black spot over Washington

And a stench that rises up in the hot, hot sun

The river’s rising and it’s hard to swim

Against the tide of wealth with sight so dim

But there’s one voice in the crowd

Who cries his mind and yells so loud

It’s a no gain

Take the peace train

[chorus:]

We won’t get no satisfaction

‘Til the Bush regime is out of action

It’s a no brain

Take the peace train

Some people got on the wrong track

Voted him in power twice, now they can’t turn back

The opposition is standing clear and strong

And now all his rights have turned into wrongs

We won’t get no satisfaction

‘Til the Bush regime is out of action

He’s a weasel fox

Who hides the clocks

I hope he’ll pay for the lives he’s taken

In a jail cell one day he’ll awaken

It’s a no brain

Ride the peace train

[Repeat chorus three times]
