Berliet autocrane
Europe, France, PACA, Var, Hyeres les Palmiers, Marina, Berliet autocrane (uncut)
During a short bike tour, we encountered a vintage (50s) Berliet autocrane at a small marina. Used to hoist ships in and out of the water. The old-school weight scale on the articulated hook, displayed here, caught my attention.
Berliet was a French manufacturer of automobiles, buses, trucks and military vehicles, among other vehicles, based in Vénissieux, outside of Lyon, France. Founded in 1899, and apart from a five-year period from 1944 to 1949 when it was placed under 'administration sequestre', it remained in private ownership until 1967, when it became part of Citroën. It was subsequently acquired by Renault in 1974 and merged with Saviem to form a new Renault Trucks company in 1978. The Berliet marque was phased out by 1980. Source: Wiki
This is number 26 of Hyères (2007, 2009 & June and September 2024 & June 2025) and 1618 of Minimalism/explicit Graphism.
