'In Holland' façade (UF 189)

Europe, Netherlands, Zuid Holland, Rotterdam-Zuid, Kop van Zuid, In Holland (Eric van Egeraad) facade Cité (Tangram). (cut from all sides)

In the northern facade of the InHolland University for higher professional education (by Erik van Egeraat associated architects.,1997), the Cité student/starters tenement building (by Tangram architects, 2010) and a small part of the Internal revenue service building can be discerned The internal structure of the In Holland building can be seen here too.

All the buildings are of course elements of the 'Kop van Zuid' urban restructuring project in progress which has converted major parts of the old harbour area on the South bank of the Maas (with its defunct ports, warehouses and railway heads) into an integrated living, recreative and commercial service quarter. It’s comparable with the Docklands in London and the waterfront re-developments in Barcelona and New York.

Number 495 of the Rotterdam architecture album.
