Bovespa - A Bolsa do Brasil
While strolling thru downtown São Paulo, we passed the Brazilian stock market (Bovespa – A Bolsa do Brazil) which was open for a PR campaign to inform the general public about the workings of this institution.
Of course, we didn’t hesitate to go in and see the background workings of economic powerhouse Sao Paulo in action. After passing 5 security officers, a metal detector and a frisking, we were able to enter the main room where a demonstration of a stock transaction was going on involving actual stock traders.
A very friendly Bovespa official showed us around, allowed us to take pictures and told us that the local company stock trade is actually not very popular in Brazil.
This shot was taken during this demonstration. The walking person on the right plays a customer who placed an order by telephone, which was processed by the stock traders on display. The person in the middle is the host who talks the public through the transaction.
