Through the Grills

This burger joint in Chinatown is located in a building that dates back to 1939. Air-con seating upstairs, outdoor seating on the sidewalk and the kitchen occupies the entire street level floor, ventilated with grilles.

The floor plan is triangular, so these retrolicious grills are not parallel but at an angle; with the activity of the kitchen between us, this lone diner didn't notice me at all.

Sometimes, it's nice to dine solo - no-one distracts you with conversation, which is good, cos the stand-out item is a US$16 plate of hand-cut fries "topped with truffle hollandaise and shaved truffles". Some things just aren't made for sharing!
