(1998) Holiday Sisters Barbie Outfit & Accessories
BOX DATE: 1998
MANUFACTURER: Mattel
DOLLS IN PACK: Barbie, Stacie, Kelly
PERSONAL FUN FACT: I'm always a sucker for sister pack dolls. Even though holiday sets weren't as practical for every day play, there was always such novelty in finding one. When Colleen and I got this set boxed at an indoor flea market in 2003, we had no idea that there were so many cardboard accessories included. As we opened the set at home, we were blown away by the cardboard tree. The first thing we wanted to do with it was set it up in our 70s Barbie Dream House, that we'd gotten the same day. Over the years, I'd say that the tree has gotten more use than any other item from this set...dolls included. We enjoyed showing Christmas time in our dolly world even more after we acquired these cardboard trinkets. Barbie's dress on the other hand was not something I got much use from. I did try to use it on my favorite 2001 Sparkling Jasmine, but it was such a pain to put on. The sleeves always got stuck on dolls' thumbs. I'm surprised it didn't tear at one point, because of all the trouble Colleen and I both had. We almost always have to put tape on Barbie's thumbs if we take her out of this gown for any reason. Luckily, Stacie and Kelly's garments are much more agreeable!
