PERSONAL FUN FACT: Ah, the memories! As I mentioned before on the photos of my Pet Doctor dolls, she was one of my first brand new, store bought Barbies as a kid. I don't recall picking Barbie out at the store, as it was so long ago. But I do have a vague recollection of Mom opening Barbie for me. I was especially enchanted by the two pets sold with this doll--in fact, I'd say that was the reason I ended picking this set out in the first place. My dog was named "Sparky," and the cat was "Champagne." Obviously, what is shown in this photograph is not what came with my childhood friend. Her pets especially are unrecognizable. Both lost their tails, and Sparky was chewed at some point, by our dog, Haley. I remember that poor little Sparky was missing one of his feet! I did manage, however, to hold onto the majority of Barbie's plastic accessories. I think the only items I am missing from my childhood doll are the needle, two cats, and stethoscope. Considering how young I was, it's rather impressive that I didn't lose more. It helped that Mom bought Colleen and me each a little organizer box to stow our Barbie accessories safely away. I also have a vivid memory of the cardboard pieces. I was so excited when Mom first punched them out of the sheet for me. I only have the hourglass left of my original accessories...and it's in horrible shape! That's why I'm so grateful that I got my hands on a boxed Pet Doctor doll in 2015. What you see here came with my formerly packaged African American doll, and it is pristine!
