Snowy Sunset
I have always spiritually imagined such a scene in my mind: looking at a snow-covered mountain landscape being dyed by the reddish/pink color of a setting sun! This dream really did come true!
🔸 This picture was captured during my first hike of the year 2021, last month. I had initially planned to travel to the French Alps with a friend of mine for stargazing and imaging the winter night-sky. Unfortunately, as the weather was terrible that weekend, we did not manage to get neither decent night-time observations nor photographs (if you remember the IG's story I have shared recently showing an up-to-20-meter visibility atop a 1,200 meters-altitude peak during daytime...that was the day before this shot).
This change of plan made us even more hungry to end our short trip with at least one exciting memory of the sky in such a paradise-like landscape.
🔹 Eventually, few hours before heading back to the city, the weather drastically improved. So, we decided to explore a 1,300 meters altitude summit and, instead of climbing down before the night falls, we stayed up there to watch a fantastic sunset in a crystal clear sky. I knew these pink-illuminated mountain tops and plateau I have always dreamed of would be seen that day.
🔸The spectacular show lasted for about three minutes until the sunrays were obstructed by the horizon. The earlier disappointment of not seeing any stars was then vanished by this unforgettable sight of a pink and snowy sunset!
I hope you enjoyed the story behind this image. See you in the next one!
