The Caring Economy

The Aspen Institute Economic Opportunities Program and the Health, Medicine and Society Program hosted a Working in America event, “The Caring Economy: How to Improve Service and Work in the Long-Term Care Industry,” at the Aspen Institute offices in Washington, DC on October 12, 2017. Panelists – including MIT’s Paul Osterman, Georgetown’s Judy Feder, Cooperative Home Care Associates’ Adria Powell, and NPR’s Alison F. Kodjak – discussed how to best address the low wages and challenging working conditions faced by workers in the long-term care industry and how to improve the quality of care for a growing population of aging Americans.
