Vintage H. Fishlove Asbestos Moneybag
View of an asbestos textile moneybag, a vintage novelty item by H. Fishlove of Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A. - 1967. The coarse cloth contains approx. 75% chrysotile asbestos, but sewn together with cotton thread (hey, it's a gag-gift).
The asbestos textile moneybag shows a screenprinted "guarantee" that one's money is in "FIREPROOF ASBESTOS - TO GO SAFELY THROUGH HELL - FIRE - BRIMSTONE". Although, not certain how one could challenge such a claim, but the silly premise of the novelty is certainly worth a chuckle, right?
Unfortunately, the apparent hilarity of the moment might be "short-lived" realizing the ironic twist that asbestos may bring one's demise a little earlier than expected.
