Fascinating to watch the loving relationship between the parents and their adorable goslings. It was rainy today so the goslings would often seek shelter and warmth under their mother's downy wings. One or two would later climb onto her back to survey their new world.
Hatchlings are covered with yellowish down and their eyes are open. They leave the nest when 1-2 days old, depending on weather, and can walk, swim, feed, and even dive. They have enough energy remaining in their yolk sac to survive 2 days before feeding. TheCornellLab of Ornithology
