Hardware (props&leatherworks): Arsenal Best Armoury
This is the second set we have done of a would be whole line of Steam Trek outfits that will span all series when it is completed.
Since we already covered TNG (series era) before: arsenal-best.deviantart.com/gallery/53151007/Steam-Trek-V...
it was a MUST to do something similar for the 50th anniversary of Star Trek with the original series.
Again like with TNG I stumbled upon a piece of Artwork on DeviantArt gesseng-regina.deviantart.com/art/Steampunk-TOS-uniform-d... which intrigued me. It's style reminded me of the design lines of early victorian/late regency era.
Since our TNG is designwise roughly placed in the later victorian era around 1880-90, I thought a style around 1830 would be fitting as a generation before.
I took the inspiration and tried to bring it a bit closer both to the historical originals as well as especially with more distinct color lines to the uniforms of the classic series.
It all went even so far to use velvet as kind of a contemporary equivalent to the velour of the series uniforms.
The picture was taken during the Role Play Convention (RPC) 2016 in Cologne, Germany and shows the outfits still in WIP stage, since there are some details missing or to be altered like proper Steam Trek badges, spats for the Lady, shorter sleeves on the Ladies dress, a trouser without gold stripes for the male and a whole lot of Steam Trek props (TOS Tricorder, Communicators, Phasers and Phaser Rifle).
