Mediocre / Liliana Farber (IL)

With data visualization, a logical follow-on of Big Data, a vast amount of information beyond the scope of human perception is clearly and effectively communicated through visual representation. Everything is compared now — things become transparent, even predictable. Within this mapping culture, questions of politics arise: Who is represented and how? Who is omitted? Which perspective is used? Mediocre appears to be a work of visualization. However, it aims in the opposite direction. The obstruction of Cognition is revealed by the work, which embodies the subjective perception of ambiguity and otherness experienced in this flooded data society.

A work by Liliana Farber, Hamidrasha Art School at Beit Berl College.
