Juliu Stahl_Feld III

*Feld III* by Julius Stahl shows sound as movement between the visible and the audible. The installation consists of a movie screen on which 1,400 wires have been mounted. Pure tone glissandi make the wires resonate in very low, inaudible frequencies, whereby the resonations are visible as “stationary waves” along the individual wires. Minimal differences in the lengths of the wires bring forth modulations of the frequencies and engender visually perceptible movements that are propagated over the entire wave field—a self-contained mobile micro-polyphony.
