The work aims to bear witness to the impact of large-scale lithium extraction in the territory identified as the Lithium Triangle, located between Argentina, Bolivia and Chile.
The race for energy transition and electromobility will profoundly affect this territory, considered a Sacrifice Zone. The central sculpture will be transformed by the effects of the saline substances falling on it, the immersive sound piece will also be corrupted. Both will be transformed by the lithium extraction data monitored in real time. The work expresses the process of deterioration of the territory and the lives of its inhabitants, while questioning the discourse of greenwashing and denouncing the neo-extractivism that impacts the bodies of the global south.
