100 Strangers: 227 Karla
Karla was my final portrait from my day out in and around the Brick Lane Area. On my way back I saw her standing outside Spitalfields market and was instantly drawn to her style especially how her hair colouring matched the clothes so well.
I approached her while she was talking with someone else but she kindly obliged to a portrait but just asked for a a few seconds to finish talking with her friend. Having said her goodbyes she gave me her attention.
As has been my approach recently, I have been trying to approach first and then think about location later (just to stop putting barriers against approaching strangers). As a result I was battling the sun going in and out of the clouds and had to pick a backdrop fast, the black facade of the shop behind seemed to be a nice match.
Karla is originally from Brazil but has been in living in the London for a while and was actually had a stall in the market, selling the wonderful jewelry you see here wearing.
Thank you so much Karla for your time. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the
