Stranger 138 - Nelli

I was in Soho today looking to get a portable camera bag, one that would fit my reflector. The same reflector that came in so handy for this portrait.

I saw Nelli walk by me and without hesitating I asked her for my portrait. I actually fluffed my approach but it just goes to show that it doesn't matter if the energy is right.

Nelli agreed straight away and I got to work. For once, I hadn't had a background sorted but saw the potential of the light straight away and positioned her for my shot. I took a few and started chatting. But, I had completely forgotten to put her bag down. I therefore asked her again for this shot. I used a trigrip reflector for this shot which was very handy because it worked out better if I held it. A little tilt of the head and I had got my shot.

I asked Nelli the question from Johanna my previous stranger (www.flickr.com/photos/arnabkghosal/28642321602/in/datepos...) and directed her to tell me the last thing that made her laugh.

She said that she loves Miranda, which for those of you don't know is a British Sitcom. I pushed a little more and asked her to give me something from her personal life. She said that generally its her friends that make her laugh and they are always teasing each other. I told her that I bet she gives as good as she gets, which she agreed.

Pushing a bit further, she said that the last thing that made her laugh was when this guy was trying to take a selfie and bumped into her. It's amazing how the selfie craze makes us very unaware of what's going on around us.

Her question for my next stranger is "If you had a plane ticket to o anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?" I turned the question back on her and she said London was a dream destination (she's originally from Finland but has been in London for a bout a year and a half), but now it would be either New Zealand or Vietnam as she loves Vietnamese food.

Thanks Nelli for another awesome encounter, and for being my 138th Stranger. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the
