Rudee Inlet Dredging

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- The dredge Currituck empties the bow of dredged sediment about 500 feet from the beachfront near 15th Street in Virginia Beach. the Currituck was off the Virginia coast from July 18-21, 2012 to dredge the federal channel of Rudee Inlet. The Currituck, one of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ dredges, is a highly utilized resource throughout coastal projects along the East Coast. During this project, approximately 7,715 cubic yards was dredged. The Wilmington, NC-based Currituck will return to Virginia next year to dredge anticipated shoaling in the channel.
