Nashville, TN Arcade ~ The Peanut Shop door handle

The Peanut Shop opened in the Arcade in 1927 as a Planter's Peanut Shop, but went solo after Planter's closed their retail stores in 1961.

The Nashville Arcade opened in 1902 and was developed by David Buntin and constructed by the Edgefield and Nashville Manufacturing Company. The Nashville Arcade replaced Overton Alley with a glass roof and a Classical Revival-style entrance that front 4th Avenue (the Men's Quarter) and 5th Avenue (the primary shopping street). The interior is a series of shops mostly constructed in the 1930s including a fabulous Art Deco Post Office substation.

The Nashville Arcade is on the National Register #73001761, and also part of the 5th Avenue Historic District #83004234.
