Mid-century Modern Living Room
For all my Mid-century Modern Flickrfriends ~ I realized that I haven't been posting enough "good" 1970s design [there really is some!].
Caption reads: In this room, an architectural feature-a fireplace wall that includes clerestory windows and a raised hearth [straight out of the Brady Bunch IMHO]-is the obvious center of interest. The texture and color of stones used in fireplace contstruction are as interesting to the eye as a painting. Wisely, other elements are played down [they keep the evil lion in the family room] so that the fireplace wall holds attention. Natural wood colors, neutral carpet color, off-white ceiling, and subdued color and pattern of sofa upholstery all contribute to playing up the rough-hewn attraction of interior stone. The scene visible through the clerestory windows above the fireplace is as spectacular as any painting, and it has been properly emphasized both by the architectural design and by the simplicity of furnishings.
