Champaign, IL Campustown building
If the city of Champaign is going to start reviewing architecture -- their proposal is not the way to start. How about a true architectural advisory board that city after city has as their planning procedures. I still wouldn't call "visual interest" architecture.
Frontages facing a public street must use at least two materials, subject to the following restrictions:
o No material may constitute more than 70% of a frontage
o Multiple colors or styles of a single material may be used to
satisfy the above requirement
o Vinyl may constitute no more than 70% of a frontage,
regardless of color or style
o These calculations are exclusive of any area dedicated to windows
This proposal ensures a minimum standard of visual interest along exterior walls
facing public streets.
