.... Yul Kwon and I met on Thursday night at the opening night party. We had been introduced via email during the weekend prior. We found we were very much in agreement about social causes. Yul attended my film Tre on Saturday and afterwards a group of us went out to dinner (quickly) before the fundraiser party. Somewhere along the line, Yul and I decided to shoot a political commentary video the next morning! The result was this video in support of Rep. Mike Honda's "Comfort Women" Resolution 121:

[Special thanks to filmmaker James Hou for shooting the Yul interview and lending me his camera to do the voice recordings.] Yul's introduction follows English translation testimonies from survivors of the rape camps read by Karin Anna Cheung and Kimberly-Rose Wolter, both actresses who have starred in my films.
With time of essence for my friends on Capitol Hill and with no other time available, I decided to record the voice testimonies DURING the Sunday night screening of Tre. It was quite harrowing, with Kim (who stars in Tre) and I both fearing that we'd lose track of time and not return to the theater in time for the q/a. We actually did get back in time, thank goodness, and the q/a was interesting and awkward as they always are for this film.
Yesterday I had a really great session with students at University of San Francisco. Amazing how technology works these days. I was able to show them the YouTube video, and even fly them around the YouTube cyber space ...
