The Stance

Once called the black and yellow warbler, the Magnolia Warbler (Setophaga magnolia) is one of our most shockingly colorful birds. Here, this mature female is similarly patterned to a male, though her black mask and chest markings are less saturated. Spring is coming, and soon these birds will be migrating north from their South American vacation homes, where they are now feasting on as many insects as they can snatch so as to energize for their journeys!
