Crazy for you
Time-crazed and honeyed tile in the St Vincent's works on Bristol Doors Open day 2009. This place was completely decked out in tiles as if they were as commonplace as wallpaper. This was just a small detail of one which, astoundingly was exactly square when i came to drop it down, no need to resize or distort to make it fit teh geometry. No framing here as-such, just some sooty Victorian grout not as easily cleaned as the tiled surface
Something vaguely Deco about this tile though actually dates from the 1890's. Why did I post this to Flickr? I cant say for sure. There was something about the design that appealed of course, but it was the cracks in the depth of that translucent glaze that caught my eye.
